GT Lightning 18" titanium MTB frame
| Here is a chance to obtain a fine vintage MTB item: a size 18 inch titanium GT Lightning frame. This MTB frame is in good condition. After a short active life this frame was stored and never used since. The satin finish of the titanium is still smooth as silk. There is only some cable rub visible. Further, as said, the frame is in mint, like new, condition. The 18" size (fit for 26" wheels) makes this frame a perfect base for the average length Retro MTB geek. The GT Lightning frames were known as the "budget" version of the Xizang flagships, produced in Taiwan instead of US. But, since these frames were only produced in 1997 and 1998 they are almost harder to find than its big brother, which was produced for as long as a decade. Where the Xizang's were polished titanium, the Lightning has this smooth (like anodized) darker finish, very chique! Please check the pics for the condition of this frame, mind that the decals are not the original but silver custom decals, very chique! There are only small signs of chain suck, and some imprint of the QR's at the dropouts. All windings are in top shape, the (XTR M950) bottom bracket however needs to be replaced. A former owner tried to remove it without success... This frame comes with a complete Chris King NoThreadSet headset in silver (base plate and top cap included).
